Module 2.4 Research and Preparation

Preparation goes a long way in helping you succeed in storytelling.

Don't get us wrong - great storytelling can succeed working quickly on the fly. But the more effort you put into your process of preparation, the better the end product will be.

Learn how to research and how to prepare your interview questions in a trauma-informed way.

Next week you will interview your storytelling partner. This exercise is an essential activity. It helps you hone your skills as an interviewer AND it helps you understand what it's like to be a participant.

In preparation for that exercise, please download the workbook below and complete the first two pages. The first two pages are about research and preparing your questions.

Question to ponder:

What are some typical words used at your organization to describe your participants? Do you think they are words that could be triggering and if so, how might you communicate differently?
